Alter Ego is a single malt English Whisky made under the Wire Works branding by White Peak Distillery in Derbyshire. Although this expression stays true to the fundamental Wire Works style of previous releases, Alter Ego has been made using lengthier cut points and some ageing in 1st fill bourbon casks. This has a produced a fruiter style, with vanilla and butterscotch aromas and a boost of gentle peatiness. Delicious stuff and in a stunningly beautiful bottle to boot!. Aromas of vanilla curd filled pastries with a malty grain along with some toasted pineapple. Gently toasty in the mouth, caramel, sweet citrus and a lick of smoke.. Wire Works Alter Ego won a Masters Medal in the 2023 World Whisky Masters – the highest accolade in the competition.. White Peak, a Derbyshire distillery established in 2016 by Max and Claire Vaughan, crafts English whisky, rum, and gin. Situated at a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a former wire works near River Derwent: thus the Wire Works brand. Their on-site process, from mashing malt to slow fermentation, influenced by local yeast, creates a unique flavour profile.
